چکیده

Results of an investigation dealing with the behaviour of grid connecfod induction generators (GCIG) driven by typical prime movers such as minihydro/wind turbines are presented. Certain practical operational ..problems of such systems are identified. Analytical techniques are developed to study the behaviour of such systems . The system consists of the induction generator (IG) feeding a 11 kV grid through a step up transformer and a transmission line. Terminal capacitors to compensate for the lagging VAR are included in the study. Computer simulation is carried out to predict the system performance at the given input power from the turbine. Effects of variations in grid voltage, frequency, input power and terminal capacitance on the machine and system performance are studied. Analysis of self excitation conditions on disconnection of supply has • been carried out. Behaviour of a 220 kW hydel system and 55/11 kW & 22 kW wind driven system corresponding to actual field conditions are presented and discussed.

Krformance Analysis of Grid Connected Induction Generators Driven by Hydro/wind Turbines including Grid Abnormalities

This paper is the result of a study undertaken to assess the steady state and transient behavior of an Induction Generator (IG) driven by Mini Hydro or Wind turbines under grid abnormalities, as encountered in practice. Behavior under varying input power typically observed in wind machines is also reported. A computer simulation study was undertaken and results on a 220 KW Hydro machine and 55 ...

GA-Based Optimal LQR Controller to Improve LVRT Capability of DFIG Wind Turbines

Nowadays, the doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) based wind turbines (WTs) are the dominant type of WTs connected to grid. Traditionally the back-to-back converters are used to control the DFIGs. In this paper, an Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC) is proposed to control the generator. Compared with back-to-back converters, IMCs have numerous advantages such as: higher level of robustness, re...

Differential Evolution Based IDWNN Controller for Fault Ride-Through of Grid-Connected Doubly Fed Induction Wind Generators

The key objective of wind turbine development is to ensure that output power is continuously increased. It is authenticated that wind turbines (WTs) supply the necessary reactive power to the grid at the time of fault and after fault to aid the flowing grid voltage. At this juncture, this paper introduces a novel heuristic based controller module employing differential evolution and neural netw...
